Short course and ASA chapter meeting
The Middle Tennessee chapter of the American Statistical Association is looking forward to "Quick-thinking, Confident, Communicative, and Collaborative: Fundamentals of Applied Improvisation for (Bio)statisticians and Data Scientists," a half-day course taught by Richard Zink, PhD, FASA, on Friday, August 14, 8:30 am - 12:30 pm. If you are a quantitative scientist who wants to increase confidence, react more effectively to unexpected events, engage your colleagues with active listening, and build ideas through sincere collaboration, then this short course is for you! Registration will close on August 12 or when all spots are filled.
The chapter is also hosting a lunch meeting from 12:30 to 2:00 pm, at 2525 West End Avenue. All are welcome (including not-yet-members and individuals not participating in the improv course).

2026 CQS Summer Institute
The 2026 Vanderbilt Center for Quantitative Sciences (CQS) Summer Institute will be held July 20-24 and July 27-31 in Nashville, Tennessee. This year's lineup features four short courses taught by Department of Biostatistics faculty, on genomic data analysis, Bayesian modeling, cloud computing, and causal inference.
