American Statistical Association Programs

Our department's activities in conjunction with the ASA include programs hosted by the Middle Tennessee chapter and the Vanderbilt Biostatistics Graduate Student Association chapter. 

 

Weekly Seminars

Most Wednesdays (during the fall and spring semesters), from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., our department hosts hour-long presentations by a variety of experts. Visit our 2024–2025 schedule for details about upcoming sessions.

 

Bioinformatics Working Group

The members of this group meet on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, from noon to 1:00 p.m., with a rotation of presenters. Topics are typically sent to participants two days before each session. For more information, contact Qi Liu.

Ethical Responsibilities Regarding Race in Research – Study Group

Race, in the words of Dorothy Roberts, "is a political category that has staggering biological consequences because of the impact of social inequality on people's health." How, then, should we as biostatisticians use race and related constructs in our analyses? We meet monthly to discuss and learn. For more information, contact Laurie Samuels.
